How to Properly Store Your Cannabis Products

Heat, direct light, and humidity can affect the storage of cannabis products. A few simple precautions can help protect their quality and packaging.

Storage requirements vary depending on the product and manufacturer. Always follow the instructions on the product label first. Proper storage can also help preserve the condition of the container and keep important product information easy to reference throughout its use.

Dried Cannabis

Dried cannabis should be stored in its original container, tightly closed, in a cool, dark, and dry place. Exposure to heat or light may affect its moisture level, aroma, and texture.

Avoid humid areas. Do not leave the container near a window, a heat source, or in direct sunlight. Open it only when necessary and close it securely after each use.

Cartridges

Vape cartridges should generally be stored upright, away from sunlight and heat sources. High temperatures can make the contents more fluid and may increase the risk of leaks.

Never leave a cartridge or vaping device in a hot car. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for storage, cleaning, and connection to the device.

Edibles

Edible cannabis products can be sensitive to heat, especially products containing chocolate, gelatin-based ingredients, or fats. High temperatures may change their shape, texture, or taste.

Keep them in their original packaging and follow the storage instructions on the label. Always store edible cannabis out of the sight and reach of children and pets.

Concentrates

Cannabis concentrates may change consistency when exposed to heat. Depending on the format, they may become more fluid, sticky, or difficult to handle.

Keep the container tightly closed in a cool, dry, and dark place. Refrigerate the product only when this storage method is indicated on the label or recommended by the manufacturer.

Capsules

Capsules should be protected from heat and humidity. Avoid storing them in a bathroom, near a sink, or in an area exposed to frequent temperature changes.

Keep them in their original packaging so that important information remains available, including the THC and CBD content, storage conditions, and instructions on the label.

Oils

Cannabis oils should generally be stored upright, in their original bottle, and away from direct light. Make sure the cap is tightly closed to reduce the risk of leaks or contamination.

Refrigerate an oil only if this storage method is indicated on its label or recommended by the manufacturer.

Pre-Rolls

Pre-rolls are sensitive to humidity, high temperatures, and changes in their environment. Improper storage may affect the paper, filter, and texture of the dried cannabis.

Keep them in their original container, tightly closed and away from sunlight. Avoid leaving them in a pocket, bag, or vehicle for long periods during hot weather.

Topicals

Topical cannabis products, including creams, balms, and lotions, should be stored in a cool and dry place. High temperatures may alter their texture or cause certain ingredients to separate.

Close the container securely after each use. Avoid placing it near a window or in a humid bathroom. Use the product according to the instructions on the label.

Accessories

Cannabis accessories should also be protected from heat and humidity. Clean them according to the manufacturer’s instructions and allow them to dry completely before storing them.

Electronic devices, batteries, and vaporizers should never be left in a hot car or in direct sunlight. Store them in a secure place, out of the reach of children.

When in Doubt

Keep cannabis products in their original packaging so that the label and important information remain available. Product-specific storage recommendations may also be reviewed through your Teedy account. When travelling, plan where the product will be stored.
